Nursing Care of a Patient Congenital Pneumonia : A case Study comparing 2cases.

Abstract

     This comparative case study of two neonates aimed to explore and compare nursing care approaches for infants with congenital pneumonia, as well as to develop practical recommendations for effective nursing management. Data were collected from two neonates diagnosed with congenital pneumonia who were admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of Sirindhorn Hospital, Khon Kaen. Information was obtained from medical records, physical examinations, laboratory results, and nursing documentation, and subsequently analyzed and compared using the nursing process.

     The findings revealed that both neonates were treated with nasal Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (NCPAP) combined with a 7-day course of antibiotics. They were successfully weaned off respiratory support within 2–3 days, demonstrated clinical improvement, experienced no severe complications, and were safely discharged. This study highlights that holistic nursing care, along with parental involvement, plays a crucial role in the recovery of neonates with congenital pneumonia.
