Developing a model for long term care services for the elderly who are dependent Under the participation of the community RenuNakhon Hospital NakhonPhanom Province.

Abstract

     This research is an action research. The objectives are to study the situation and to develop a long term care service model for dependent elderly people under community participation at RenuNakhon Hospital, NakhonPhanom Province, in line with the problems and needs in the context of the community. The sample group consists of 15 dependent elderly people, 15 primary caregivers in the family, 4 community leaders, 5 elderly leaders, 2 people involved, 6 village health volunteers (VHV), 5 elderly caregivers (CG), 3 executives, and 5 health service providers, totaling 60 people. The development process follows the action research. The research steps are as follows: 1) Study and analyze the situation of elderly care in the community. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, group discussions, and participatory observation. 2) Data obtained from the analysis Situation to plan development and decide on a joint practice 3) Follow the plan, reflect and improve the practice 4) Evaluate the overall practice, analyze quantitative and content data.

     The research results found that the sample group participated in thinking, planning activities and evaluating. They had more knowledge and skills in caring for the elderly and were satisfied with their participation in the activities. Health service providers had guidelines for caring for the elderly in the community. A long-term care service model for dependent elderly people with community participation was developed.
