This study aimed to compare the differences in self-care behaviors before and after participating in a health literacy promotion program among children with type 1 diabetes. The sample group consisted of 30 children with type 1 diabetes who had uncontrolled blood glucose levels, receiving care at the Pediatric Clinic, Outpatient Department, Surat Thani Hospital, between November and December 2023. The research instrument was a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using frequency distribution, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and the Paired Sample t-test to test the research hypothesis.
The results of the study revealed a statistically significant difference (p < 0.05) in health literacy related to self-care behaviors among children with type 1 diabetes before and after participating in the health literacy promotion program. The average health literacy score before participation was at a moderate level (mean = 2.07), whereas after the program, the score increased to a higher level (mean = 2.67).
