Effects of the Self-Efficacy and Outcome Expectation Program on Long-Term Dependent Elderly Caregivers in Ta Phraya District, Sa Kaeo Province.

This quasi-experimental study utilized a one-group pretest-posttest design to examine the effects of a program based on the Self-Efficacy Theory and Outcome Expectation on caregivers’ knowledge, skills, and confidence in caring for long-term dependent elderly persons. The participants were 27 caregivers residing in Thap Rat Subdistrict, Ta Phraya District, Sa Kaeo Province, who had completed at least 70 hours of elderly caregiver training as recommended by the Department of Health. The research instruments consisted of a knowledge assessment form, a caregiving skills evaluation form, and a self-efficacy scale. Data were analyzed using paired sample t-tests. The findings revealed that after participating in the program, the caregivers had significantly higher average scores in knowledge, caregiving skills, and confidence compared to before participation (p < 0.05).
