Development of an Alternative Counseling System for Women with Unintended Pregnancies at the 50th Anniversary Mahavajiralongkorn Hospital

Abstract

     This research employed was Quasi-Experimental Research Pretest – Posttest Two- Group Design. The primary objectives were 1) to identify key components for developing an option counseling model for women with unintended pregnancy based on perspectives from experts and service users; 2) to develop an option counseling model tailored to the context of a general hospital ; and 3) to evaluate the effectiveness of the developed model at 50th Pansa Mahavajiralongkorn Hospital. The sample was selected through purposive sampling, consisting of 5 counseling nurses and 24 women with unintended pregnancy receiving services at the clinic. The research instruments included 1) a Knowledge Assessment on Option Counseling, 2) a Decisional Conflict Scale (to measure decisional clarity), and 3) a Service Satisfaction Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, content analysis, and paired t-tests

     Results The findings revealed that knowledge regarding options increased significantly after the intervention = 6.90 Post-test = 9.85 t = 11.42, p < .001 Decisional clarity was at a high level = 4.42 (S.D. = 0.37) Furthermore, overall satisfaction with the counseling model was at the "Highest Level" = 4.72
