Development of the competency of village health volunteers in consumer protection operations in Nonsuwan district, Buriram province

This action research was aimed to development of the competency of village health volunteers in consumer protection operations in Nonsuwan district, Buriram province. There were 2 groups of samples: 1) Network partner of 18 samples and 2) Village Health Volunteers 232 samples, selected according to predefined criteria. The research was conducted between October 2025 - February 2026. Data were collected from questionnaires, in-depth interview guidelines and focus group guidelines. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and comparing the mean differences using paired t-test and qualitative data were analyzed by content analysis with a significance level at 0.05.
The results showed that the developed model for enhancing the competencies of village health volunteers in consumer protection activities consisted of 4 key components: 1) Capacity Building for Village Health Volunteers, 2) Consumer Protection Communication, 3) Community-Based Consumer Protection Activities and 4) Support and Network Participation. The evaluation results showed that most participants had a moderate level of knowledge and a high level of practice about consumer protection operations (=19.53 S.D.=2.42,
=2.37 S.D.=0.18). Moreover, after the implementation of the developed model, both knowledge and consumer protection practices were significantly higher than pre-development (p-value< 0.001).
