Abstract

This case study aimed to examine the nursing process and infection prevention strategies in two older patients diagnosed with multidrug-resistant urinary tract infections. The conceptual framework was based on the 11 Functional Health Patterns by Marjory Gordon and hospital infection prevention and control measures.This case study collected data from medical records, patient interviews, health assessments, and clinical outcome monitoring. Data were analyzed according to the nursing process: assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Emphasis was placed on infection prevention measures, including contact precautions, proper hand hygiene, appropriate urinary catheter management, and surveillance for transmission.

The findings revealed that both patients received systematic nursing care based on the conceptual frameworks. No additional complications occurred, and no transmission of multidrug-resistant organisms to other patients in the ward was identified.
