A Systematic Review of Full-Sibling Relationship Assessment in Forensic Genetics Using Autosomal STR Markers and Likelihood Ratio Methods
Keywords:
Full-sibling relationship, Likelihood ratio, Autosomal STR, Forensic geneticsAbstract
This study aims to review relevant literature on the use of LR in assessing full-sibling relationships and describe the calculation principles used in forensic genetics. Furthermore, it presents the application of Abetter LIMS software to analyze the relationship between two individuals from 23 autosomal STR loci using siblingship analysis and complex kinship analysis.
Siblingship analysis yielded a CLR of 9.79 × 10⁴ with a probability of 68.90%, similar to complex kinship analysis, supporting the hypothesis of full-sibling relationship. Additionally, calculations from 15 autosomal STR loci yielded a CLR of 381.2666, further supporting a full-sibling relationship.
