Factors associated with behaviors for preventing hyperglycemia among elderly diabetic patients who cannot control their blood sugar levels in Khlong Tamru Community, Mueang District, Chonburi Province

This study was survey research aimed to examine factors associated with hyperglycemia prevention behaviors among elderly diabetic patients with uncontrolled glycemic levels. A sample of 103 participants was selected using a simple random sampling technique. The research instruments included a personal information interview form, the Health Belief Model questionnaire, and a hyperglycemia prevention behavior assessment. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson’s product-moment correlation coefficient.
The results revealed that gender and perceived severity were significantly and positively correlated with health behaviors at the p < .01 level. Additionally, fasting blood sugar (FBS) levels, duration of diabetes, presence of complications, and perceived benefits showed significant positive correlations with health behaviors at the p < .05 level.
