New Roles in the Same World: Proactive Health Promotion in Communities by Public Health Housewives Associations and Women’s Networks.

Abstract

      This study is a literature review and lessons learned exercise aimed to analyze the evolving roles of the Public Health Housewives Association (PHHA) and women’s network groups in proactive health promotion within the context of the modern world. Although these efforts take place within the “same world,” characterized by enduring social structures, emerging challenges particularly population aging and the rapid advancement of digital technologies have prompted a significant transformation in the roles of women. Specifically, women have shifted from being passive supporters to becoming “agents of change” in community health development. The data was analyzed using content analysis.

      Findings from the implementation of various initiatives indicate that the collective power of the PHHA and women’s networks, particularly through the establishment of multi-sectoral collaborations, plays a crucial role in enhancing the effectiveness of proactive community-based interventions. The integration of digital technologies into program operations further strengthens their capacity to respond to contemporary health challenges. Consequently, these efforts contribute to improved community well-being and support the development of sustainable health outcomes at the grassroots level in Thailand.
