Risk Factors for Preterm Birth among Pregnant Women Delivering at Tha Song Yang Hospital, Tak Province

This survey research by Retrospective study aimed to investigate the risk factors associated with preterm birth among pregnant women delivering at Tha Song Yang Hospital, Tak Province. A total of 308 participants were included, divided into a case group (gestational age < 37 weeks) of 103 women and a control group (gestational age ≥ 37 weeks) of 205 women. Data were retrospectively collected from medical records and antenatal care (ANC) booklets between 2022 and 2025. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Chi-square test, and Multiple Logistic Regression at a significance level of 0.05.
The results revealed five independent risk factors significantly associated with preterm birth: short cervix (aOR = 4.57, 95% CI: 2.15-9.72), a history of previous preterm birth (aOR = 4.25, 95% CI: 1.85-9.76), hypertensive disorders in pregnancy (aOR = 2.68, 95% CI: 1.15-6.24), infections during pregnancy (aOR = 2.34, 95% CI: 1.30-4.21), and inadequate ANC visits (aOR = 2.10, 95% CI: 1.25-3.52).
