FACTORS INFLUENCING PREVENTIVE BEHAVIORS AGAINST EXPOSURE TO PARTICULATE MATTER 2.5 AMONG THE ELDERLY IN KHUKHAN DISTRICT, SISAKET PROVINCE

This survey research by cross-sectional study aimed to investigate the factors influencing preventive behaviors against exposure to particulate matter with a diameter of less than 2.5 microns (PM2.5) among older adults in Khukhan District, Sisaket Province, Thailand. The sample consisted of 332 older adults. Data were collected using a researcher-developed questionnaire between March 15, 2026 and May 31, 2026. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, bivariate correlation analysis, and Stepwise Multiple Linear Regression analysis to identify factors influencing PM2.5 exposure prevention behaviors.
The results revealed that seven factors significantly influenced preventive behaviors against PM2.5 exposure among older adults in Khukhan District, Sisaket Province: health behaviors, economic status, access to information, marital status, attitudes, age, and educational level at primary school or below. These factors collectively explained 59.4% of the variance in PM2.5 exposure prevention behaviors among older adults (R² = 0.594).
