Abstract

This experimental research used descriptive statistics, including numbers, percentages, means, and content analysis. The objective is to study the efficiency of oil absorption by natural materials and to compare different types of natural materials in oil absorption. The research involved varying the types of natural absorbent materials, including Kapok Fibers and Cogon Grass Flowers. Types of oil include Crude Oil and Fuel Oil. And the absorption times were 2 and 10 minutes.

Research results on the Crude Oil absorption efficiency of Kapok Fibers at absorption times of 2 and 10 minutes showed values of 99.28% and 99.39%, respectively. And Cogon Grass Flowers, the absorption times of 2 and 10 minutes were 98.52% and 99.60%, respectively. The Fuel Oil absorption efficiency of Kapok Fibers at absorption times of 2 and 10 minutes was 99.16% and 92.78%, respectively. And Cogon Grass Flowers, the absorption times of 2 and 10 minutes were 96.55% and 86.64%, respectively. When comparing the efficiency of Crude Oil absorption, it was found that both types of natural materials were able to absorb oil best at the same time, which was 10 minutes. The Cogon Grass Flower has the best absorption efficiency, at 99.60%. When comparing the efficiency of Fuel Oil absorption, it was found that both types of natural materials were able to absorb oil best at the same time, which was 2 minutes. The Kapok Fibers has the best absorption efficiency, at 99.16%.
