Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in Samut Prakan Quality of Life among Province.

This research aimed to study the quality of life and predictive factors of quality of life among type 2 diabetes patients in Samut Prakan Province. A Survey research data analyzed by mixed-methods design was employed. Quantitative studies involved a sample of 305 type 2 diabetes patients aged 18 years and older, selected using stratified random sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires on general information, a self-care ability assessment, a healthcare access assessment, a social support assessment, and a quality of life assessment. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. Qualitative studies collected data from 12 key informants through in-depth interviews, which were analyzed using content analysis.
The results showed that the majority of type 2 diabetes patients had a good overall quality of life (73.8%), followed by a moderate level (25.6%), and a poor level (0.7%). Factors that significantly predicted quality of life (p < 0.05) included self-care ability and social support. Access to healthcare services, adequacy of income for monthly expenses, and duration of diabetes illness collectively explained 46.2% of the variance in quality of life. Qualitative data reflected the significant roles of families, communities, and healthcare professionals in supporting patient care. However, limitations were found in controlling dietary habits, medication adherence, and household economic problems.
