Development of Health Literacy Promotion Model for Hypertension High-Risk Groups in Phatthalung Province.

Abstract

     This research and development study aimed to investigate the health status and conditions of at-risk groups for hypertension in Phatthalung Province and to develop a health literacy promotion model for hypertension prevention among these at-risk groups in Phatthalung Province. The study was conducted from October 2025 to May 2026, totaling 8 months. The sample consisted of 400 at-risk individuals for hypertension in Phatthalung Province from 11 districts, selected using stratified random sampling based on inclusion criteria, considering the proportion of at-risk groups, population size in each district, and criteria for inclusion. Data were collected from questionnaires and health status records. Data were analyzed using content analysis, descriptive statistics, and inferential statistics.

     The study results showed that after implementation, the at-risk group's average health literacy score increased from 70.13% to 81.58%, perceived/support/self-efficacy increased from 62.31% to 73.14%, and the average score for disease prevention behaviors increased from 63.98% to 72.50%, with an average difference of 8.52 points. All variables increased significantly at the 0.05 statistical significance level. Regarding health status after extension, systolic blood pressure decreased from 127.40 to 123.41 mmHg (average difference -3.99 mmHg), diastolic blood pressure decreased from 80.98 to 78.33 mmHg (average difference -2.65 mmHg), and body mass index decreased from 25.84 to 25.26 kg/m² (average difference -0.57 kg/m²). And waist circumference decreased from 91.08 to 90.20 centimeters, with an average difference of -0.88 centimeters. All variables decreased significantly at the 0.05 statistical level.
