Health Literacy Factor Influencing Self-Management Behaviors in Patients Receiving Modern Dressing at Mae Chan District, Chiang Rai Province.

This study was survey research aimed to investigate the levels of health literacy and self-management behaviors, and to examine the relationship and predictive effect of health literacy on self-management behaviors among patients receiving modern wound dressing. Sample size were 92 patients receiving modern wound dressing at Mae Chan Hospital, Chiang Rai Province. Participants were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using structured questionnaires, including health literacy and self-management behavior scales. Although the data were not normally distributed, parametric tests were applied due to the adequate sample size. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson’s correlation, and simple linear regression.
Results: The mean health literacy score was 43.20 (SD = 8.13), and the mean self-management behavior score was 51.49 (SD = 8.69). Health literacy was significantly positively correlated with self-management behaviors (r = .720, p < .001). Health literacy was also a significant predictor of self-management behaviors (β = .720, p < .001), explaining 51.8% of the variance (R² = .518).
