Factors Affecting Burnout among Village Health Volunteers in Thung Tako District, Chumphon Province

This survey research by cross-sectional study aimed to examine the level and factors affecting burnout among village health volunteers in Thung Tako District, Chumphon Province. The sample consisted of 214 village health volunteers drawn from a population of 711 using stratified random sampling across seven health service units combined with systematic random sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and stepwise multiple regression analysis with three separate equations corresponding to the burnout components.
The results showed that emotional exhaustion and depersonalization were at low levels (M = 1.14, SD = 0.906 and M = 1.21, SD = 1.002, respectively), while personal accomplishment was at a moderate level (M = 3.57, SD = 1.303). Resilience quotient was the strongest predictor across all burnout components (β = -.293, -.268, and .387, respectively). Resilience quotient and quality of work life jointly predicted emotional exhaustion, accounting for 17.30% of the variance; resilience quotient, social support, and single marital status jointly predicted depersonalization, accounting for 15.30%; and resilience quotient and quality of work life jointly predicted personal accomplishment, accounting for 31.60%, all statistically significant at the .05 level.
