This study aimed to investigate the clinical characteristics, clinical outcomes, and treatment success of HFNC in pediatric patients with respiratory distress at Somdet Phra Yuparat Nakhon Thai Hospital, Phitsanulok Province. A survey research by retrospective study was conducted using medical records of 110 pediatric patients aged 1 month to 15 years who received HFNC therapy between February and October 2026. Descriptive statistics were used to summarize patient characteristics. Clinical outcomes before and after HFNC therapy were compared using paired t-test with a significance level of 0.05.
Results: Most patients were male (59.09%) with a mean age of 3.32±2.69 years. Pneumonia was the most common diagnosis. After HFNC therapy, respiratory rate and heart rate significantly decreased, while oxygen saturation significantly increased at all assessment time points (p<0.001). Respiratory status improved in 97.27% of patients. The mean duration of HFNC therapy was 85.79±60.18 hours, and the mean hospital stay was 5.89±3.37 days. No HFNC-related complications were documented. The treatment success rate was 96.36%.
