Keywords:

This action research aimed to examine a model for promoting rational antibiotic use behaviors among the population of Sisaket Province. The participants involved in developing the process comprised physicians, hospital pharmacists, registered nurses, directors of subdistrict health promoting hospitals, public health officers, Thai traditional medicine practitioners, community leaders, village health volunteers, local grocery store operators, and community members, totaling 30 participants. A community participation approach was employed to develop a long-term care model for individuals with dependency, applying the action research framework of Kemmis and McTaggart over two cycles. Data were collected using researcher-developed questionnaires between September 6, 2025, and December 31, 2025. Data analysis involved data compilation, categorization, content analysis, and comparison of mean differences between pre- and post-intervention scores using paired t-tests.
The findings revealed that the rational antibiotic use promotion model for Sisaket Province was the HASCR Model, comprising: (1) Health Knowledge and Literacy for RDU, focusing on enhancing knowledge, health literacy, and skills; (2) Awareness, promoting risk awareness; (3) Sharing Experience, facilitating experiential learning; (4) Community Participation, encouraging active community involvement; and (5) RDU Coaching, representing continuous empowerment and support. After implementation, After the intervention, the participants showed significantly higher mean scores in both knowledge and rational antibiotic use behavior compared to before the intervention (p < 0.05). The study recommends implementing the HASCR Model to promote rational antibiotic use at the community level. This should be achieved through the integration of knowledge provision, awareness-raising, experience sharing, and community participation, combined with ongoing RDU Coaching. Such an approach will empower individuals and enable continuous behavioral monitoring, thereby contributing to the sustainable reduction of inappropriate antibiotic use.
