Abstract

This quasi experimental research aimed to investigate psychological conditions and impacts, develop a community-based mental vaccination model, and examine changes in stress and depression among patients with uncontrolled diabetes mellitus and hypertension at Ban Lanvua Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital, Karoh Subdistrict, Nopphitam District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. The study was conducted from March 2025 to May 2026. Sample size were 45 participants. Data were collected using demographic questionnaires, Stress Test-5 (ST5), 2Q depression screening questionnaire, community mental immunity assessment, and focus group discussion guidelines. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, content analysis, and paired t-test.

The findings revealed psychological problems among participants, with 78 participants (26.35%) having high stress levels, 27 participants (9.12%) having very high stress levels, and 89 participants (30.07%) being at risk of depression. The developed model, called the “Waistline-Free Vaccination Model,” integrated the 4S2C community mental vaccination principles with the 3E health behavior modification concept. The model consisted of promoting safety, calmness, hope, destigmatization, community efficacy, and community relationships. After receiving the model, participants demonstrated a statistically significant reduction in stress scores (p<0.001).
