This survey research aimed to examine the relationships between Perceived stress, Perceived risk, Social support, and Stress coping among pregnant women with syphilis infection. The sample comprised pregnant women diagnosed with syphilis who received screening and treatment services at Mahasarakham Hospital, Kalasin Hospital, and Roi Et Hospital. Purposive sampling was used to recruit participants. Data were collected from August 2025 to July 2026. Research instruments included a demographic data questionnaire,Perceived Stress Scale, Perceived Risk of Syphilis Infection Questionnaire, Social Support Scale, and Stress Coping Questionnaire. Cronbach’s alpha coefficients for these measures were .73, .92, .84, and .81, respectively. Data were analyzed using Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient.
The results revealed that a majority of participants were primigravida (53.64%), were most frequently diagnosed during the first trimester (45.45%), presented predominantly with latent syphilis (90.91%), and received treatment with Benzathine penicillin (90.91%). The mean scores for perceived stress, perceived risk of syphilis infection, and stress coping were at moderate levels (M = 18.72, SD = 4.42; M = 24.64, SD = 8.09; M = 64.78, SD = 12.04, respectively). Social support had a high mean score (M = 49.98, SD = 8.12). Statistical analysis using Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient showed that perceived stress had a significant negative correlation with social support (r = -.28, p < .001). Perceived risk of syphilis infection during pregnancy and social support both had significant positive correlations with stress coping (r = .28, p < .001 and r = .47, p < .001, respectively).
