Knowledge and Simple Cost-Accounting Bookkeeping Behavior among Fish-Shaped Bread (Khanom Pang Pla) Producing Households: A Case Study of Tai Ko Community, Sam Khok District, Pathum Thani Province.

This study aimed to (1) examine the level of knowledge and understanding of simple cost accounting among fish-shaped bread (Khanom Pang Pla) producing households, (2) compare household bookkeeping behavior before and after participating in a vocational training project, and (3) examine household economic outcomes associated with simple cost-accounting knowledge, in Tai Ko Subdistrict, Sam Khok District, Pathum Thani Province. The sample consisted of 30 training participants. Data were collected using a questionnaire and a raw-material cost record, and analyzed using descriptive statistics and McNemar's test.
Results showed that overall knowledge and understanding of simple cost accounting was at a high level (M = 4.36, SD = 0.50). Five bookkeeping behaviors — daily income-expense recording, separating personal from business funds, calculating cost before pricing, retaining purchase/sale evidence, and regularly summarizing profit/loss — increased significantly (p < .05) from 50.0-63.3% before to 100.0% after participation. Most participants were female (96.7%), aged 51-60 years (60.0%), and engaged in trading or small business (76.7%). For the product used in the practical training, the material cost per piece was 1.25 baht against a proposed selling price of 10.00 baht per piece, yielding a gross margin of 87.5%, and all participants reported increased savings and applied their knowledge to expand their business.
