The development of a model for building health literacy skills in preventing preterm birth of pregnant women receiving antenatal services, King Narai Maharaj Hospital

Objective: To development of a model and study the results of implementing of a model for building health literacy skills in preventing preterm birth of pregnant women receiving antenatal services, King Narai Maharaj Hospital.
Method study: This research is a research and development the samples group 1) 8 teams responsible for maternal and child health work 2) 3 registered nurses and 3) 20 pregnant women. The research process was divided into 4 phases: Phase 1: a study of the situation by reviewing medical records, interviewing the hygiene team for 8 people and 4 pregnant women who have had premature births. Phase 2: Development of a model for building health literacy skills. Phase 3: The model was used to trial. Phase 4: evaluating the use of the developed model. The research tools consisted of 1) a questionnaire on the feasibility of the model and 2) a questionnaire on nurse satisfaction on the use of the model 3) a health literacy skill questionnaire for pregnant women. Data were analyzed using content analysis descriptive statistics and paired t-test statistics.
Research results: The health literacy skill building model for preventing prematurity consisted of 5 skills training: 1) access training, 2) comprehension training, 3) inquiry training, 4) decision-making training, and 5) conducting. The results after using the health literacy skill building model showed that the probability nurses' satisfaction with the use of the model is a very good level. Health literacy skills of pregnant women after using the pattern were higher than before. There was a statistically significant difference (p< 0.05), one case of preterm birth was found (5%).
