Factors Associated with Dengue Prevention and Control Behaviors among People in the Multicultural Community of Mueang Pon Subdistrict, Khun Yuam District, Mae Hong Son Province.

Abstract

     This cross-sectional survey study was conducted in Mueang Pon Subdistrict, Khun Yuam District, Mae Hong Son Province, a multicultural community with a high incidence of dengue fever. The objective of this study aimed to examine factors associated with dengue prevention and control behaviors among the population. The sample consisted of 340 participants aged 18–59 years, selected using proportional stratified random sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics, chi-square tests, and binary logistic regression at a statistical significance level of p < 0.05.

     The findings revealed that most participants had a good level of dengue prevention and control behaviors (90.29%). Factors significantly associated with good dengue prevention and control behaviors included Karen ethnicity (Adjusted OR 12.29, 95% CI: 1.66–91.07), Thai ethnicity (Adjusted OR 6.80, 95% CI: 1.01–45.83), living in houses surrounded by gardens or rice fields (Adjusted OR 13.28, 95% CI: 2.02–87.13), and having a high level of perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefits, and perceived barriers related to dengue prevention behaviors (Adjusted OR 6.69, 95% CI: 1.80–24.89).
