Development of an Early Childhood Development Promotion Model Using the District Health Board Mechanism in Mukdahan Province.

Abstract

      This study employed an action research design aimed at developing an early childhood development promotion model using the mechanism of the District Health Board (DHB) in Mukdahan Province. The target groups consisted of members of the District Health Board, parents or caregivers of young children, and relevant stakeholders. Both quantitative and qualitative data were collected. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, as well as inferential statistics using paired sample t-test. Qualitative data were analyzed through content analysis.

     The findings revealed that the developed model for promoting early childhood development using the District Health Board mechanism consisted of five key steps: (1) contextual analysis of the area, (2) implementation planning, (3) execution of the action plan, (4) monitoring and evaluation, and (5) lesson learned and analysis of problems, barriers, and success factors. This process was synthesized into the “MUK–MUM Model” (Mukdahan Early Childhood Development Promotion Model). The implementation of the model resulted in significant improvements in early childhood development across all domains. The proportion of children with normal developmental status increased, while the number of children with suspected developmental delays decreased continuously. Notably, the fine motor and cognitive development domain showed the highest improvement, with normal development increasing to 89.47%, followed by the gross motor domain at 79.16%.
