Abstract

The knitting techniques of rice paddles and setting it up to cover the coin edge is called Rice Knitting by Lanna people. The method to knit the paddle rice, starts with choosing the grains which are completely perfect, slender and the same size. Gathering and gentle joining them one by one with step by step till complete, this making is purpose offering to the Lord Buddha. It is believed that this offering will bring them with wealthy and healthy to the donor at the present time as well as next life. This action could compare as like any paddy seed falling on to the rice field, and bring land to be exuberant. This article will present a history of importance and the procedure of weaving paddles which supported by the Lanna philosopher of Baan Muang Sard village, Muang District, Chiang Mai Province, to revive and promote the cultural heritage of Lanna culture back to alive again in the contemporary society.
