Abstract

Within very little knowledge of modern Japanese philosophy discussed in Thailand, there is a book named, “Postmodern in Japan,” by Chaiyan Chaiyaporn, describing the development of philosophical thinking in modern Japan. Presented in the book is that Nietzche’s way of thinking has influenced the movement of Japanese philosopher. This book is seen offering important and rich information to people who are interested in studying modern Japanese philosophy. By reviewing this book using philosophical point of view, the background of the invention of Japanese word, ‘Tetsugaku’ is revealed. This book also illustrates the status of father of modern Japanese philosophy through roles of Nishi Amane and Nishida Kitaro.
