Abstract

This article aims to seek answer for a question regarding human in the dimensions of religion and philosophy. Such question fundamentally reflects how human attempt to learn about themselves. Exploring religious and philosophical paradigms, it was evident that Hindu-Brahmin, Christianity and Islam describe the origin of man in relation to the system of creation of the ultimate being. On the other hand, Buddhism tries to explain such concept underlying the negativism aspect which indicates that origin of human is related to god-like soul which is called rebirth-consciousness. According to the concept of negativism, rebirth-consciousness is not eternal existence. Although the philosophical paradigms have tried to obtain such answer through reasoning new theories, there is still no single answer without critiques. In terms of answering the inquiry, “what constitutes good human beings”, both religions and philosophies give the similar response stating that good human beings should have individual peace and social cohesion.
