Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to study A Ajarn Cha’s teaching statements in a book entitled, “Dharma on Trees.” The paper particularly aims to identify statements which are related to good deed. Findings reveal that good deed is always attached to good acting. The findings also report that Buddhism’s aspect of good acting influences Ajarn Cha teaching. This could be seen from his postulating that good acting must be derived from human’s intention. Such intention consists of driving forces that produce action. These driving forces are Kusalamula 3 (Alobha, Adosa, and Amoha) and Akusalamula 3 (Lobha, Dosa and Moha). This paper finally highlights that the 3 Kusalamula are seen as good deed. Therefore, this paper argues that any actions described in the book that are related to the 3 Kusalamula are seen as good conduction.
