บทความวิชาการนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่ออธิบายหลักการและแนวทางการประยุกต์ใช้โมเดลอิทธิพลส่งผ่านต่อเนื่องแบบมีตัวแปรกำกับในงานวิจัยองค์การ โดยเสนอว่าโมเดลนี้มีคุณค่าในการยกระดับการอธิบายความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างตัวแปรจากการมองแบบเส้นตรง ไปสู่การทำความเข้าใจกลไก ลำดับ และเงื่อนไขของความสัมพันธ์อย่างเป็นระบบ การประยุกต์ใช้โมเดลดังกล่าวช่วยให้นักวิจัยสามารถอธิบายได้ว่า ตัวแปรต้นส่งผลต่อตัวแปรตามผ่านกลไกใด กลไกนั้นเกิดขึ้นเป็นลำดับอย่างไร และความสัมพันธ์ดังกล่าวเข้มขึ้น อ่อนลง หรือเปลี่ยนแปลงไปภายใต้เงื่อนไขใด บทความนี้นำเสนอตัวอย่างกรอบแนวคิดที่เชื่อมโยงแนวโน้มบุคลิกภาพผู้นำ พฤติกรรมภาวะผู้นำเชิงกลยุทธ์ วัฒนธรรมและบรรทัดฐานองค์การ ความสามารถในการปรับตัวเชิงกลยุทธ์ขององค์การ และความเป็นผู้ริเริ่มเชิงรุกของพนักงาน ข้อดีของโมเดลนี้คือช่วยเพิ่มพลังในการอธิบายปรากฏการณ์องค์การที่มีความซับซ้อน และทำให้การออกแบบสมมติฐานมีความลึกมากกว่าการทดสอบอิทธิพลทางตรงเพียงอย่างเดียว อย่างไรก็ตาม ข้อจำกัดสำคัญคือโมเดลอาจถูกใช้เกินความจำเป็น หากไม่มีฐานทฤษฎีรองรับลำดับของตัวแปรส่งผ่านหรือบทบาทของตัวแปรกำกับอย่างชัดเจน บทความนี้จึงเสนอว่า การใช้โมเดลอิทธิพลส่งผ่านต่อเนื่องแบบมีตัวแปรกำกับควรตั้งอยู่บนความชัดเจนทางทฤษฎี ความเหมาะสมของข้อมูล และความระมัดระวังในการตีความเชิงสาเหตุ เพื่อให้งานวิจัยองค์การสามารถสะท้อนความเป็นจริงขององค์การร่วมสมัยได้ลึกและสมจริงมากขึ้น
