Patricia Cheesman has lectured on Southeast Asian history at the Universities of New South Wales and Sydney and for the past thirty-five years has been a lecturer in the Thai Art Department of Chiang Mai University. She has researched Lao textiles in depth and written many books and articles on the subject. She is a weaver and dyer specializing in indigo and other natural dyes and founded Studio Naenna Textiles and the Weavers For the Environment women’s group in Chiang Mai province, Thailand.
