AI-Enhanced Podcast and Radio Services: New Skilling Library Staff to Drive Sustainable Development Goals
Main Article Content
Abstract
Khon Kaen University Library designed workflows using Design Thinking approach to promote lifelong learning in Academic Skills, Life Skills, and 21st Century Skills through radio programs and podcasts. The study found that practitioners needed to develop 7 new skill areas. Three staff members were developed through Individual Development Plans, training programs, Communities of Practice (CoP), and mentoring systems. 100% of practitioners passed the KKU DQ Test criteria. AI integration was implemented in 50% of radio and podcast production processes, reducing production time to 1 day while improving quality. The service delivered 117 radio episodes and 41 podcast episodes, with podcasts achieving 4,466 access counts. ADLI framework was used for measurement and development. Despite AI being an effective assistant, practitioners preferred not to use AI for voice narration, emphasizing the need for natural human communication and building close communities between knowledge providers and listeners. This service supports communities and contributes to SDGs: promoting lifelong learning and encouraging student participation as program hosts (SDG 4), Audio media promotes access to knowledge for the visually impaired or the elderly and using technology as a Knowledge Connector linking learner in communities with knowledge sources (SDG 17). This service presented the library's role as a knowledge promoter driving sustainable development goals.
