Synesthetic Metaphor Leading to Sound in Thai

Abstract
This article examines the synesthetic metaphor leading to sounds in Thai and to explain concepts or concepts, including Thai culture through the use of language, metaphor, synesthetic metaphor. In addition, the results of the study were compared with synesthetic metaphor of sounds in other languages. The research group studied data from academic works, non-academic works, fiction, newspapers, and miscellany by using the Thai National Corpus program of the Department of Linguistics, Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University. It was found there are 64 examples of synesthetic metaphor applied to sounds in Thai. They are in the senses of sight, taste, and touch. the most is seeing the least synesthetic metaphor aspect that is used with sound words in Thai is taste, however, the sense of smell metaphor was not found. In addition, the synesthetic metaphor reflects the conceptual system and concepts of Thai people and can explain the values, culture, way of life, as well as the synesthetic metaphor used with sound words in other languages, such as English and Chinese, there are some characteristics that are common with Thai language as well.
