“Three Seals Law : Thai Orthography and Discourse”

Abstract
The study of Thai orthography and discourse within The Three Seals Law (Volumes 1 and 2, published by the Royal Institute) identifies various orthographic elements, including consonants, vowels, tone marks, numerals, and symbols. There are 43 consonant forms found: ก ข ฃ ค ฅ ฆ ง จ ฉ ช ซ ฌ ญ ฎ ฏ ฐ ฑ ฒ ณ ด ต ถ ท ธ น บ ป ผ ฝ พ ฟ ภ ม ย ร ล ว ศ ษ ส ห ฬ อ There are 24 vowel forms found: ‘ะ ‘า ิ ี ึ ื ุ ู เ‘ะ เ‘ แ‘ะ แ‘ โ‘ เ‘าะ ‘อ เีย เ ือ ัว ํา ไ‘ ใ‘ เ‘า เ‘อ ฤ As for tone marks, the study found that there are all types: first tone (่), second tone (้), In fourth tone (๋). There are 10 numerals: ๐ ๑ ๒ ๓ ๔ ๕ ๖ ๗ ๘ ๙ Regarding symbols, specific ones are used, including the “Tin Kru” mark (฿), double angkhun mark (๚ะ), "Khomo" mark (๛), the parentheses mark () ), and the end mark ( ะ ). And the study of Thai orthography, there are special characteristics in the use of consonants, vowels, tone marks, symbols and numbers. As for the study of discourse in the “Three Seals Law” document, four types of discourse were found: narrative discourse, explanatory discourse, persuasive or instructive discourse, and procedural discourse
