Linguistic Strategies Used by the Host in the Program Entitled “Khui Kap Aui” : A Pragmatics Perspective

Abstract
The objective of this research was to study linguistic strategies used by the host of the Kui Kap Aui Program. The data were collected from video clips of the program broadcasted as a podcast via YouTube channel and hosted by Aui Buddha Bless including one-hundred and fifty-five episodes aired from January 6, 2022 to December 24, 2024. The results revealed that the host employed various linguistic strategies in order to achieve effective communication appropriate to the nature of the program, in which celebrities from diverse fields and professions were interviewed to convey inspiration and share valuable life experiences. There were 8 main strategies; 1. Modalities including 1.1 Providing opinions 1.2 Expressing confidence and 1.3 Indicating conditions 2. Giving details 3. Giving reason 4. Supporting reply 5. Repeating answer 6. Metaphor 7. Sentence usage that provides alternative content and 8. Speech acts, including 8.1 Affirming 8.2 Questioning 8.3 Advising 8.4 Arguing 8.5 Thanking 8.6 Apologizing 8.7 Complimenting 8.8 Promising.
