Abstract

The research titled Making Methods of Saw Duang by Prasit Tasanakorn examined the history and craftsmanship of Saw Duang and the factors related to sound quality using qualitative research methodology. It found that Prasit Tasanakorn studied with Boonmee Chamboonrod, the musician and Saw Duang maker  from the Samut Songkhram Province. Later in 1989, he developed his own techniques. His fabrication process is delicate with an emphasis on sound quality. He used the best quality materials and components that results in an attractive instrument both visually and auditorily. He carved a uniform low-relief texture into the interior surface of the sound box to reduce the harshness of the sound which makes his Saw Duang's unique.
