Problems in the Performance of Village Headmen in KhonKaen Province

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to study: 1) problems of the village headman's performance in KhonKaen province; 2) to compare the problems of the village headman's performance in KhonKaen province; 3) to present the suggestion of the performance of the village headman in KhonKaen the population used in the research was 189 village chiefs and 400 village headmen who worked in KhonKaen province in fiscal year 2017. The tools used for data collection were a five rating scale questionnaire. Statistics used in data analysis were: percentage, mean, standard deviation and t-test (independent) statistics for testing hypotheses.
The research findings were as follows:
1. The overall performance of the village headman was found that it was at a low level. Considering each aspect, it was found that the problems were at the low level, 4 aspects and 1 medium level, respectively, namely natural resource and environmental conservation, followed by career development and promotion and the administration and order of peace. As for the aspect that has the lowest mean score was the registration.
2. The results of the comparison of the operational problems of the village headman, classified by sex, revealed that overall, there were different operational problems with statistical significance level of 0.05 (p ≤ 0.05). Considered in each aspect, there was a significant difference at the level of 0.05 (p ≤ 0.05) in all aspects, including administration and order career development and promotion in the conservation of natural resources, environment, registration and civil defense. As for the results of the comparison of the performance problems of the village headman, the village headman classified the experience of performing duties, in overall, there were different operational problems with statistical significance at the level of 0.05 (p ≤ 0.05). Considered in each aspect, there was a significant difference at the level of 0.05 (p ≤ 0.05) in 2 aspects: registration and the civil defense department. The results of the comparison of the operational problems of the village headman classified by status showed that overall, there were different operational problems with statistical significance at the level of 0.05 (p ≤ 0.05). 3. Suggestions for the performance of the village headman: there should be public relations information for the public to be thoroughly informed and should raise awareness for the public to be responsible for strengthening the community and government agencies should come to visit and check the problems of the community.
