Community Synergy Application for Moving Forward Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility of Factories in Tha Pra Sub-District, Muang District, Khon Kaen Province

Abstract

The purposes of the study were: 1) to study the implementation of the corporate social and environmental responsibility of factories in Tha Pra sub-district, Muang district, KhonKaen province; 2) to investigate the strategies of community synergy application for moving forward corporate social and environmental responsibility of factories; 3) to apply the strategies of community synergy application for moving forward corporate social and environmental responsibility of factories. Both quantitative and qualitative approaches were applied in the study. The samples were 390 people in Tha Pra sub-district. The target groups were 48 managers, executive staff, the officers that were responsible of corporate social responsibility and factory workers and 51 village headmen, community leaders and members of administration organization. The instruments were questionnaires and interview schedules. Data was quantitatively analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and content analysis was used for qualitative analysis.
The results of the study were as follows: 

1. The implementation of the corporate social and environmental responsibility of factories stated that most were female between 51-60 years old, with secondary education, working as hired employees and gained 9,001-12,000 baht per month. Most got the information from the broadcast of village headmen. Most participated in community development on social and environmental of factories on community environmental conservation campaign once a year. The opinion level of the corporate social responsibility on every aspect at moderate level, on community aspect (gif.latex?\bar{x} = 3.10, S.D. = 0.820, health and welfare aspect (gif.latex?\bar{x} = 3.15, S.D. = 0.864), education aspect (gif.latex?\bar{x} = 3.17, S.D. = 0.932) , human rights aspect (gif.latex?\bar{x} = 3.12, S.D. = 0.831), natural environmental aspect ( = 3.10, S.D. = 0.900), consumers’ rights aspect (gif.latex?\bar{x} = 3.18, S.D. = 0.903) and the cultural aspect (gif.latex?\bar{x} = 3.19, S.D. = 1.030). And the overall opinions of corporate social responsibility of all 7 aspects were at moderate level (gif.latex?\bar{x} = 3.14, S.D. = 0.897).
2. The strategies of community synergy application for moving forward corporate social and environmental responsibility of factories were found as follows: (1) community leaders’ potentials development for thinking and planning abilities, (2) information system and data base development for being updating, accurate and planning coverage, (3) community planning development for moving forward social and environmental responsibilities which needed the participation of all sectors, (4) promotion on people’s awareness of moving forward corporate social and environmental responsibility of factories, (5) knowledge management promotion on moving forward corporate social and environmental responsibility of factories, (6) network building at all village, sub-district, district and province levels for promotion on moving forward corporate social and environmental responsibility of factories, (7) monitoring and evaluating system development focusing on the participation of community and factories, and (8) promotion on providing the monitoring and evaluation results for improving the management of moving forward corporate social and environmental responsibility of factories.
3. The application of the strategies of community synergy application for moving forward corporate social and environmental responsibility of factories stated that all strategies needed the following categories for support as follows: (1) providing activities for leaders for thinking and planning creation, (2) the local government sector should establish the public information center, (3) the tangible objectives of community plan should support community needs, (4) the understanding should be provided clearly for the involved sectors and make community love and preserve environment, (5) the identity knowledge should be provided for sustainable competition, (6) the organization of group of leaders, members, regulations, management and resources should be provided, (7) the people who monitor and evaluate should understand the traits of the projects, and (8) the monitoring and evaluation should concern with the clear and accurate information.
