Development of a Model for Enhancing the Competencies in Information Technology of Staff in Private Higher Education Institution

Abstract
The purposes of this study were to investigate the needs in enhancing the
information technology (IT) competencies of staff in private higher education institution, to develop a model for IT competency enhancing, and to implement the developed model. The samples were 32 persons selected from the staff of Pathumthani University. The research instrument was an IT competency evaluation form. Data were analyzed by using a t-test statistic, mean, standard deviation, and correlations.
The results found that: the staff of private higher education institution needed enhancing IT competencies in knowledge, skills, and attitudes, the model in which it was developed by the researcher was evaluated at a much appropriate level by a panel of 7 experts using focus group method on the 30th of August, 2018. The efficiency of training which administered according to the model was validated the efficiency at 84.37/88.38 by using the KW#2 approach. The comparison analysis between the mean scores before and after training found that there was a significant difference at .05 levels; the after training mean score was higher than before training mean score. After 60 days of training, the IT competencies of staff were evaluated by their superiors and found that there was a positive correlation of staff competencies and it competency scores. The staff rated their satisfactions of training at a very much level.
