Learning Management of Social Studies, Religion and Culture Department Based on the Concept ‘teach less, learn More’ in Educational Institutes under the Office of Secondary Education Service Area 25

Abstract

The aims of this research were: 1) to study the condition, 2) to compare, 3) to study the ways to improve learning management of Social Studies, Religion and Culture Department based on the concept ‘Teach less, Learn more’ in the educational institutes under the Office of Secondary Education Service Area 25. This study is a quantitative research method by using survey research, to collect the data from the research samples, including 420 teachers in the Department of Social Studies, Religion and Culture under the Office of Secondary Education Service Area 25 and 201 of them were selected by Krejcie & Morgan method. The statistics used in the data analysis were: Frequency, Percentage, Mean, Standard Deviation, One Way ANOVA and Scheffe’s method of paired comparison.
The research results were as follows:
1. The overall mean score of the condition of learning management of Social Studies, Religion and Culture Department based on the concept ‘Teach less, Learn more’ in the educational institutes under the Office of Secondary Education Service Area 25 was rated at a high level. is ‘Life and Work’, ‘Social and Multicultural Learning’, ‘Media and Technology’, ‘Critical Thinking and Problem Solving’ and ‘Creativity and Innovation’.
2. The comparative scores, classified by the samples’ personal factors: education and working experiences were indifferent in the statistical significance level of 0.05. However, the scores of the learning management studied based on the personal factor: school size were different with the significance level of 0.05; this accepted the set
hypothesis.
3. The ways to develop the above mentioned learning management can be organized as follows. The teachers should promote organizing the learning activities, allowing the students to exchange their knowledge as a team with the content linked to life, wisdom, environment and community of students by coordinating and seeking cooperation from the community and learning resources outside the educational
institutions to give students a better understanding of local and world cultures. In organizing such learning activities, the teachers should consider the interests, aptitudes and needs of students according to the differences between individuals.
