Practices and Processes for Increasing Agricultural Income in the Buddhist Way of the Highland-Developer Network of Monks in Chiang Rai Province

Abstract

This research of objective to: 1) to investigate the practical guidelines for applying Buddhist principles in increasing Buddhist agricultural income that are suitable for ethnic groups on the highland, 2) to follow up the operation of the problem solving in agriculture of highland ethnic groups in the prototype area and 3) to analyze the practical way of the Buddhist Monk Developer Network and the process of increasing the income of the ethnic group in the prototype area. This work was conducted by the qualitative research method and all data were corrected by using the in-depth interview with the group of volunteers graduated monks and community leaders of three districts viz., Wiang Pa Pao District, Mae Suai District, Muang District in Chiang Rai, Mae Fah Luang District Province, totaling 14 people.
The results showed that: of the practice and the process of increasing the income of Buddhist agriculture. It can be perceived that Buddhism teaches the principles like Tolerance, Mindfulness, Truth, Harmony, Path of Accomplishment, Holy Abidings, bases of social solidarity, the Four Noble Truth, and Qualities of a Good Man. They live based on ‘the Middle Way’. If a person knows how to consume things in a suitable manner or moderation in consuming, living according to their own circumstances, not soaring. They know how to control their minds and various uses, like the use of worthwhile possessions to reduce greed. And instruct other and share the benefit of themselves and others to contribute to living a happy and truly sustainable. Ultimately, instruct others to share, which will benefit themselves and others that will lead to a truly happy and lasting life.
