Integrating the Principles of Sammappadhana to Develop the Prevention of Corruption in the Election of Members of the House of Representatives

Abstract

The purposes of this research were 1) To study the principles of Sammapadhana To develop the prevention of corruption in the election of members of the House of Representatives. 2) To integrate the principles of democracy. To prevent corruption in elections for members of the House of Representatives and 3) to present guidelines for preventing corruption in elections for members of the House of Representatives. it is qualitative research using document study and related research. In-depth interview from 30 key informants and focus group discussions by 12 qualified experts. Use content analysis techniques to add content and check the accuracy and completeness of the data using triangulation techniques. The present it descriptively.
The results revealed that:
1. The principles of Sammappadhāna for developing the prevention of electoral corruption among Members of Parliament consist of four key aspects: (1) The principle of satisfaction, which involves mindfulness and vigilance to prevent unwholesome thoughts from arising within the mind; (2) Pahānapadhāna, which focuses on the effort to eliminate unwholesome deeds and thoughts; (3) Bhāvanāpadhāna, which emphasizes the effort to cultivate and instill wholesome deeds, encouraging the development of positive qualities and good actions; and (4) Anurakkhanāpadhāna, which involves striving to maintain the wholesome qualities that have already arisen, ensuring they do not deteriorate.
2. The integration of the Sammappadhāna principles for preventing electoral corruption among Members of Parliament reveals that the development of anti-corruption measures, particularly in relation to “Pahānapadhāna”, involves mindfulness in restraining and controlling behaviors associated with misconduct, as well as recognizing the harm that such actions can cause.
3. The strategies for preventing electoral corruption among Members of Parliament are as follows: (1) The development of anti-corruption measures through “Saṁvara-padhāna” involves diligent effort to prevent corruption-related misconduct from arising in the first place; (2) The development of anti-corruption measures through “Pahānapadhāna” focuses on mindfulness to restrain and control unethical behavior; (3) The development of anti-corruption measures through “Bhāvanāpadhāna” is directly related to the cultivation of concentration; and (4) The development of anti-corruption measures through “Anurakkhanāpadhāna” involves understanding the potential suffering that may arise, guided by wisdom.
