The Development Model of Primary School Administration toward Academic Excellence in Bangkok

Abstract

This research aimed to: 1) analyze the current conditions, desired conditions, priority needs, and guidelines for developing primary school administration toward academic excellence in Bangkok; 2) develop and examine a model of primary school administration toward academic excellence; and 3) evaluate the developed model. A mixed methods research design was employed in three stages: analyzing current conditions and priority needs, developing and examining the model, and evaluating the model. In the first stage, data were collected from 88 school directors and deputy directors responsible for academic administration, together with interviews with five experts. In the second stage, the proposed model was examined through a focus group discussion involving nine experts. In the third stage, the model was evaluated by 88 stakeholders. The research instruments included questionnaires, interview forms, and evaluation forms. Data were analyzed using percentages, means, standard deviations, priority needs analysis, and content analysis.
The findings showed that:
1. The overall current and desired conditions of primary school administration toward academic excellence were at a high level, with the development and promotion of learning resources receiving the highest priority need.
2. The developed model consisted of six components: principles of academic administration, objectives of academic administration, scope of academic administration, academic administration processes, guidelines for academic administration evaluation, and success factors. The model was rated as appropriate at a high level.
3. Stakeholders rated the feasibility of the model at the highest level.
