The Development of the Readiness Pattern Management for the the Patients Rectal-Colonoscopy in Special treatment unit at Lumphun Hospital

Abstract

     The Research and Development this time. This is quasi experimental research with a two-group pretest-posttest design. The samples were assigned into two groups: an experimental group of 37 people and a control group of 37 people. The control group used the original bowel preparation model for colonoscopy. The experimental group used the new bowel preparation model for colonoscopy. The data collection tools used included a questionnaire on basic personal information, health information, knowledge and preparation for colonoscopy, anxiety and satisfaction on preparation of patients for colonoscopy, a record of bowel cleanliness levels. Data were collected by interviews using questionnaires. Data were analyzed by percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation paired sample test and independent t-test.
     The findings revealed that the knowledge of patients undergoing colonoscopy in the experimental group after the experiment was significantly higher than the control group at the .05 level. In terms of the preparation of patients for colonoscopy, the prepartion of the experimental group was significantly higher than the control group at the .05 level. For bowel cleanliness assessment, the bowel cleanliness of the majority of the experimental group was at an excellent (89.2%) while that of the majority of the control group was at a good level (62.2%). The comparative results of the bowel cleanliness of the experimental group and the control group revealed that the experimental group had a higher level of colon cleanliness than the control group at a statistical significance of .05.
