Development of nursing care model for school-age adolescents with self-harm behaviors in Phu Khiao District, Chaiyaphum Province.

Abstract

     This research was research and development. Aim to study problem context, develop and use a nursing model for school-age adolescents with self-harm behavior in Phu Khiao District, Chaiyaphum Province. Data were collected between August 2022 and September 2024, a total of 26 months. Qualitative sample group was 11 mental health network partners. Quantitative sample used 86 students with self-harm behavior. Research tools included in-depth interviews in group discussions, general data collection forms, stress assessment forms, depression screening forms, suicide assessment forms, and satisfaction assessment forms. Data were analyzed by content analysis, using statistics, numbers, percentages, means, and standard deviations, and paired t-tests.
     Results of study found development of the guidelines consists of 7 important formats as follows: 1) Develop a screening system in schools using technology 2) Develop a referral system within the network schools 3) Develop a Hero consultant who is a consultant for adolescents 4) Promote knowledge sharing in teachers in terms of observation 5) Develop a speedy screening system 6) Make an appointment to re-evaluate within 2 weeks in high-risk groups and see a doctor immediately in high-risk groups 7) Develop a child and adolescent mental health clinic service system. The results of using the formats showed that stress was reduced, depression was reduced, suicidal tendencies were reduced, and satisfaction was increased. After the statistically significant development p <.05, t = -5.63, -6.46, -5.78, 8.97 respectively.
