Abstract

     This study aimed to evaluate and compare the quality of life and safety among cancer patients receiving palliative care with morphine. Data were collected through questionnaires on demographic characteristics, the EQ-5D-5L for health-related quality of life, and the ESAS for Discomfort symptoms, administered on day 1 and day 30. Statistical analyses included descriptive statistics and the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The findings indicated a trend toward decreased health-related quality of life; however, this change was not statistically significant (p > 0.05). Several symptoms, including pain, fatigue, nausea, drowsiness, anorexia, dyspnea, and constipation, showed a decreasing trend, suggesting potential improvement in patient comfort. In contrast, levels of depression and anxiety tended to increase, indicating a possible decline in psychological well-being, although these changes were also not statistically significant (p > 0.05). Additionally, blood biochemical parameters suggested a trend toward impaired liver and kidney function.
