"Journey to Phukhaothong" Tourism Route Narrating the Past to the Present

Abstract

          Journey to Phukhaothong was a masterpiece poetry of Sunthorn Phu who was praised by UNESCO to be the world's leading poet on 26 June 1986. In Journey to Phukhaothong, Sunthorn Phu described the journey which could be compared as a map of a tourism route. One part of the Journey to Phukhaothong described places in the area of the old capital or Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya which was a great city. The journey through various places in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya that Sunthorn Phu mentioned including Krung Kao sub-district, Tah Na Juan, Wat Nah Phramen and the Golden Mount.
          Nowadays, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province could be considered a province with places that were suitable for tourism. Therefore, it could be said that "Journey to Phukhaothong" of Sunthorn Phu could be compared as a map of a tourism route which could narrate the history in the past to the present. Even though the modernization has taken control in every direction, the various places in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province could still maintain its unique identity.
