Local Political Participation of People in Ban Lao Sub-District Administrative Organization Muang District Chaiyaphum Province

Abstract

          This research had the following objectives: 1) to study the level of local political participation of the people in the Ban Lao Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Mueang Chaiyaphum District, Chaiyaphum Province; 2) to compare the local political participation of the people in the Ban Lao Subdistrict Administrative Organization; 3) to study the relationship between the implementation of the Four Saṅgahavatthu Dhamma (Bases of Social Solidarity) with the local political participation of the people in the Ban Lao Subdistrict Administrative Organization; 4) to study problems and guidelines for local political participation of the people in the Ban Lao Sub-District Administrative Organization. This was mixed-method research. The sample used in the research consisted of 380 people and 11 key informants. The research instruments were: questionnaires and interviews. The statistics used for data analysis were: Frequency, Percentage, Mean and Standard Deviation, t-test, F-test, and the correlation coefficient (r).
          The results of the research were as follows :
          1) The level of local political participation of the people in the Ban Lao Subdistrict Administrative Organization overall was at a moderate level. 
          2) The comparison of the local political participation of the people in the Ban Lao Subdistrict Administrative Organization found that people with differences in sex, age, education, and occupations, Overall, no difference.
          3) The relationship between the implementation of the Four Saṅgaha-vatthu Dhamma and local political participation of the people in the BanLao Subdistrict Administrative Organization revealed a positive relationship.
          4) Local political participation guidelines are that the government should provide people with more information about local political participation. Also, there should be the dissemination of information in various online media, and It should give people more opportunities to participate in various ways in expressing their opinions, in making decisions, and to monitor the progress, including budget consumption and other aspects.
