Policy Proposal Promoting the Proper Role of Monks on Juvenile Development

Abstract

          The objectives of this research were to study 1) the current roles and expected roles of Buddhist monks in juvenile development 2) the proper roles model of Buddhist monks in juvenile development at present 3) factors toward the promotion of Buddhist monks role in juvenile development and 4) policy recommendations on promoting the proper roles of Buddhist monks in juvenile development at present. This research was conducted with mixed methods. For quantitative part, the sample group of this research comprised 5 groups of population in Ratchaburi 400 persons  by accidental sampling.  For qualitative part, the in-depth interview and policy meeting were conducted 30 people in total. The data were analyzed by using content analysis.
          The research findings were as follow: the current roles of Buddhist monks in juvenile development at present were overall in moderated levels, the expected roles of Buddhist monks in juvenile development the expected role of Buddhist monks in juvenile development were overall in high levels.  2. the proper roles model of Buddhist monks in juvenile development at present were including: 1) teaching 2) good role model 3) managing their temples to be attracted to juvenile 3. The factors toward the promotion of Buddhist monk’s role in juvenile development were abbots and faith form Buddhism, school and teacher. 4. The policy recommendations on promoting the proper roles of Buddhist monks in juvenile development at present were covered including promoting the potential of monks, supports organization and cooperation activities of relevant agencies and develop morals teaching and learning in school.
