A comparative study of academic achievement in Social Studies, Religion and Culture subject on the Physical Characteristics of the Province among grade 4 students between motion graphics lessons "The Wonderland Journey" and a conventional instructional method

Abstract

          The objectives of this research were (1) to develop and determine the efficiency of motion graphics lessons, The Wonderland Journey, on the Physical Characteristics of the Province for students in grade 4 according to the 80/80 criteria; (2) to compare the academic achievement in Social Studies, Religion and Culture subject on the Physical Characteristics of the Province of grade 4 students between motion graphics lessons "The Wonderland Journey" and a conventional instructional method.
          The sample of this research consisted of 30 students in Grade 4 of Wat Rajchakrue School, Thonburi District, Bangkok, in the second semester of the academic year 2021, obtained from a purposive sampling. A total of 15 students in grade 4 was assigned to an experimental group using the instructional method with motion graphics lesson “The wonderland journey” about the Physical Characteristics of the Province, and 15 grade 4 students were subjected to the control group using a conventional instructional method. The research instruments were (1) a motion graphics lesson “The wonderland journey, and (2) a learning management plan (3) An achievement assessment form with a total reliability of 0.77 by using a Randomized Group, Pretest – Posttest Design experimental model. The data were analyzed using percentage, mean, standard deviation and t-test independent.
          The results of this study indicated that (1) the efficiency index of the developed motion graphics lesson “The Wonderland Journey” was 81.33/80.33, which met the required criteria. (2) The achievement in Social Studies, Religion and Culture subject using motion graphics lesson “The Wonderland Journey” on the Physical Characteristics of the Province was higher than that of a conventional instructional method with a statistical significance level of .05, which was consistent with the hypothesis.
